Hi,

I need some advice regarding Klonopin. I have been tapering this med and am down to .125. I take .0625 in the morning and another one in the evening. I have been at this current dose for 2 weeks and the withdrawals have been horrible. I have considered going up to .1875 but have been trying to resist the urge in the hopes of stabilizing. I think I went too fast on my taper. I desperately want off this med, but I feel like I can't rush it because of the withdrawals. I probably need to slow it down, but I'm not sure how to taper from .125. I don't want to just drop the morning or evening dose and be at .0625 (I think this would be too severe). The .0625 dose is so small, I really cant cut it anymore. I saw a doctor today and asked about compounding the med into .02 mg capsules. He said he did not write prescriptions that way........ended up giving me a script for 30 .5 mg. Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

At that tiny dose allot of this psychological. I went through it too with ativan(not too bad, not fun either). Sure coming of a benzo can be hard depending on the dose, length of time on that dose, your make up, speed of the taper, etc, but that dose is below the "therapeutic window" for the majority so the best thing to do is.............. continue the slow, long, taper. This can take months for some. Don't rush as at that dose you can't be having much if any side effects.
Another option is to switch to either valium or clorazepate and taper of it. With their longer half life and slightly lower potency many find it easier to taper of one of either. Ask about that. Just my thoughts. Alankay.

I can promise you its psychological. Nothing personal but I have been on klonopin off and on for many years and have stopped it abruptly. I never had an issue
