I have been through many different medication changes in the last five years and no matter what, I always have the same problem of chest tightness and agitation. Right now I am taking 30 mg of celexa and 250 mg of seroquel and Ativan as needed. I don't know what is causing these side effects. No matter what I take or what change I make I always wake up and eventually my chest gets tight and I feel agitated. It's pure physical anxiety. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Are they SSRIs? When I was perscribed citilapram I feel similar, tight chest, pounding heart, agitation etc so I stopped taking it, my anxiety symtons are stil present and at times out of control bt I still feel miles better than wen was on that stuff.

I don't know. I've had it with all kinds of medications. I have been on all the snris and all the ssris except for Luvox and I was only on zoloft for a few weeks along with risperdal but my new doctor at the time took me off both because risperdal was making me like a zombie. That was the time lexapro came out so it was what the doctor switched me too along with seroquel. Seroquel has always been great but I have struggled to find a antidepressant that works well and doesn't cause more problems. My diagnoses are OCD and Major Depression.

Im not a doc n dont really no much about OCD so my views arnt a science but in my experince with antidepressants I find they numb the brain bt speed up the body if that makes any sense. So the physical symptons become exagerated whilst the mind becomes kinda numbed. I dont have a lot of experience with ssri drugs tho. My gp told me 30 mins of cardio exercise a day like a jog, power walk, cycling etc is equivlent 2 20mg prozac because it helps boost seretornin in the brain. My advice would be talk to yer doc about tapering of ssri or even try get a light dose of a benzodiazipine on top of wot yer taking, so as to try relax your physical symtoms.

I have anxiety, panic and OCD... My most prevalent symptom is chest tightness, shortness of breadth, rapid thoughts. Meds seem to mostly when effective reduce it. But if Meds and other techniques don't work well, maybe change Meds and/or find other techniques/ hypnosis, meditation/ painting/ writing/ counseling/ etc. of you have a smart phone Search apps for anti anxiety and relaxation. Something may click .
