Clonazapam vs lorazapam

Ok.. Since being diagnosed with depression, anxiety, panic, OCD, and PTSD... One med has been pretty consistent and those are benzos. First was Valium, them Clonazapam then Lorazapam. Valiums just were too much. I'm finding my Lorazapam now not enough. I go off and on antidepressants for my anxiety and panic attacks ( depression doesn't happen so much anymore .. Yeah!).
I'm curious what others experience with these Meds are. Clonazapam lasts longer and I'm finding myself waking up and taking a Lorazapam again to sleep. My anxiety is normally at its peak at night. I just started self hypnosis to help too... But really think I need this change in Meds

I'd stick the one benzo that fits your anxiety best. Ativan for panic but klonopin for panic and more GAD type anxiety. Keep on the ADs so you can get by with less benzos. In general just use the benzos at the lowest dose you can get away with..... and I know it's easier said than done. Just my thoughts. Alankay

I take Ativan before bed to help me stay asleep and also take it if I have a panic attack which haven't been that bad lately.

Im on Xanax XR (extended release) and it has been great for me. On previous Ativan and Xanax, the effect doesnt take place till atleast an hour after taking it. So you almost have to "guess" when an attack is going to happen. With the XR, I take it in the morning if I feel that its going to be a panicy day. Works most of the day for me.

Instead of an ativan at night to sleep ask your doctor for remeron. I take 15mgs and sleep like a baby.

I been taken klonopin for four years now! Before I was taking xanax! The doctor said that the klonopin has a longer life than the xanax! It has worked great for me! Hell I don't think I could live without it! I know sounds like addiction but hmm I could be addicted. I told the doctor that taking a klonopin everyday for the rest of my life is like taking a heart pill that is needed or some other type of medication! He laughed but its the truth. I take 1mg a day, sometimes i cut them in half because half does the trick if i'm not too anxious.

Klonopin always worked the best for me out of all the benzos. With Xanax I felt really good for a couple hours then would crash. Ativan didn't help much. Valium has the longest half life...I did ok with it too. Right now I'm not taking any benzos but I really feel like I need them

Nancy, 1/2 to 1 mg per day of klonopin is fine. Low to medium dose. I'm the same way(it kills anxiety for me when needed) but only take valium occasionally. It's not addiction but more of a "medically dependency" and not at all uncommon with anxiety disorders especially Panic Disorder. I wish it were not the case but it beats the alternative and I'm thankful for them. Alankay
