Hi Everyone,

This is my first time here. I have recently been told by my doctor that I may be suffering from Anxiety. I had recently been sick and thought it was something like an ulcer of kidney stones...I have never felt so sick. I even had to go to the hospital for dehydration. So you could imagine my surprise when all my tests came back okay. Like many of you have said I too have always been anxious and a worrier my whole life but thought I could keep in in check...never did I think it could get like this. I now avoid situations and haven't been able to go back to work in fear I will have another panic attack or something will go wrong. So next week is my first appointment ever with a phys. so I am pretty nervous but hope it helps. Have any of you been able to get better without meds. I am hoping to not take them but wonder if I should. I appreciate reading all your stories as I can relate to many of them.

Thank you for letting me share

Hi Samie, and welcome...

The things with psycs...they are not a guaranteed fix. You really need to work hard with them. I was silly to think I would sit down, they would tell me a few things and I would be fixed...this isnt the case. Sometimes they will give you homework, including mood/anxiety charts to fill in. Be sure you keep on top of it all, otherwise you are waisting time/money. Also don't be afraid of meds...to be honest they have changed my life for the best.

Take care!
