Before starting, if you caught the title reference (Motion City Soundtrack - the future freaks me out), then give yourself a firm pat on the back with your clammy hands.

Anyways, I'm 17 and I am mere weeks away from finishing my last year of high school. All of my friends seem to know what they want - or have already started - to do with the remainder of their blue-collared lives. Usually kids are very optimistic about adulthood and have a myriad of aspirations. Speaking of, my younger cousin (he was probably 5 or 6) aspired to be a shark when he grew up ...if only... I have never known what exactly I wanted to do with my life. I don't understand the point of me going to any community/colleges. It seems like that would be a waste of 2-4+ years. Much like the overwhelming majority, I do not want to work a 9-to-5 and I don't expect to be some sort of deep, philosophical musician/celebrity (Thom Yorke). I know it's not unusual (<-- Tom Jones *Carlton dance*) to not know what you want to do, but to be honest, I feel like a piece of s**t.

This doesn't induce much anxiety ; more so, it induces anxiety's much less frightening younger brother, worry.

I don't really feel as though I have anything new to contribute to anything. And before anyone mentions anything about a possible "career" in writing, just realize how competitive that field is. (and maybe re-read this thread and critique the writing - grammar mistakes abundant)

If anyone has felt this way or is currently going through a slight existential crisis, please comment. (trivia: my original username was going to be Existential Error)

Well, anyways, this is just another whiny thread.

Have a nice day.

I just turned 18 and graduated from high school a semester early. Because I'm so nerdy. (lie) but I understand the weird awkward "what the fuck am I going to do with myself" thing. Wanna go to nursing school with me?

It will make anxiety worse, too! Like right meow, I can't even sleep. XD

The Navy seems cool. My grandfather did that whole scene. Be a doctor! Ladies love doctors! And their wallets!

I want a woman to love me - not my profession or income.

Go for it! I had an appointment in Iowa City that day. which like put me in panic mode. I felt like a jittery squirrel.

Being out in the city gave you panic attacks? Or was it something else?

Like a combo of things. I didn't sleep the night before, a was switching meds, ect. Wasn't the best way to spend a birthday. But I bought a ton of clothes, so I felt better.

Brittany1995

Anxiety medicine! Lol

Duck Daffy
03-27-2013, 03:14 AM
Do you actually feel relief on them? I've never taken any.

Brittany1995

It's like a hit and miss for me. I took one med for 2 years and I made me what I would call "normal". I LOVED it. Then my body became immune to it. So this past year I've been going through like 4 different meds trying to find relief:/ the only one since the first one that's even came close to working is Xanax. But it's just for when I'm having a bad attack. It doesn't help with everyday anxiety. It's just a lot of work finding one that suits your body chemistry. :(

Duck Daffy
03-27-2013, 03:19 AM
Do you think that you can kinda wean yourself off of them?

Brittany1995
03-27-2013, 03:20 AM
Xanax? What are u talking about?

Duck Daffy
03-27-2013, 03:21 AM
Anxiety pills in general.

Brittany1995
03-27-2013, 03:24 AM
Yeah if you start one and have to end it for some reason, you wean off of them. Especially if they're the strong stuff. You'll still get like withdrawal symptoms. I'm going to try the therapy route on the 9th! Have you done that?

That exact reason caused my anxiety actually. As soon as i graduated high school i had no clue what i wanted to do. I then went through college and figured it out. I now do complete paint restoration on high end Porsche's and Audi's. Even though my degree is in geoscience... lol. Give it time, figure out what you want to do and it will work itself out. And personally i didnt take meds, i just kind of got past it all.
