Hi everybody

Just wanted to introduce myself - I have anxiety disorder which has been particularly bad the past 12 months  When I look back I know I've been the worrying type all my life but, as is usually the case, a couple of triggers really brought it out last year. My anxiety tends be GAD with health anxiety.

Currently, I'm trying to battle anxiety disorder med-free using avoidance and mental approaches, but like for many people its a daily struggle with the usual ups and downs. I have tried a variety of drugs with differing results.

I have a professional interest in anxiety and other mood disorders, particularly in neuropsychopharmacology. I look forward to joining in with you all, learning from others experiences, having good discussions and sharing any useful knowledge I've gained over the years :)

kind regards
Northern Soul

Hi Northernsoul, good to have you on board! What do you mean exactly when you say you have a professional interest in anxiety mood disorders? Are you working/studying in this area?

Cheers

Hi admin

Sorry for the slow reply I'm currently on vacation.

Kind of both really. I'd rather not go into my profession in detail but I dont represent any kind of organisation in joining this site. My interest is purely personal due to suffering from anxiety.

Its kind of ironic having known alot about this condition over the years only to succomb to it myself. I have a good undestanding of how drugs affect the brain, and indepth overall physiology and disease aetiology.

thanks

It is interesting that going through a process with someone can train you in doing that process by yourself. I wonder what the figures are for shrinks going crazy? You can go into a rapport-trance state with a client but does that mean they can inadvertently hypnotize you to be like them?

I'm a new member too so welcome aboard northern soul!

Hey Northern Soul,

I hope you find comfort here. We all have our ups and downs. That's what makes this place so great. Everyone can pick eachother up from time to time.

There are no heros here. We're all just in this thing together.
