Hi everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself and say I have suffered with depression on and off for the last 15 years, and anxiety for the last 7. I am currently taking 10mg of escitalopram(lexapro) per day and am trying to wean off them now and hopefully cope on my own without meds.

I am also studying for a psychology degree and am due to start my final year in September. With a view to working with people who suffer anxiety and panic disorders.

I could really do with a bit of support right now and am very pleased to have found this place

I hope to get to know everyone on the boards

 :)

Hi psychofatale, good to know we have someone who is working on a psych degree and experiences anxiety and depression. Sometimes I wonder if the psychologists really comprehend what we are going through. I am sure you will be a very valuable asset to this forum :)

Thankyou for the warm welcome, and I feel I have a lot to offer people who suffer with anxiety and depression through my own experiences, and I agree with you I also feel that some of the psychiatrists and psychologists we see to help and advise us just seem to lack a real depth of understanding. I also feel anxiety is very difficult to exlain to other people and it can be even more difficult to explain what anxiety and depression do to us.

As much as I need support for my issues, I really hope I can offer the same to other members, as its therapeutic in itself when I feel I have helped someone. :agree:
