Has anybody had their B12 levels checked? I just got back from my doctors to get my lab results and my B12 was at 299. There's a note on the paper that says that 5-10% of patients with B12 between 200 and 400 may experience neuropsychiatric abnormalities (depression, OCD, bi-polor, etc.). There are a lot of articles online about B12 supplements helping with anxiety. I'm going to start taking these supplements today and see if it helps. I was just wondering if anybody else has found this link or used B12 supplements

Wow, these symptoms describe me almost perfectly...
"irritability, heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, dizziness, concentration problems, feeling hyperactive or frantic, headache, cold hands and feet, tingling or "pins and needle" sensations in your hands and feet, muscular weakness, cramps, fatigue, depression, irritability, blurred vision, falling, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting after meals, change in personality and mild memory impairment."

Yes I was at a level of 398 and had all kind of crazy symptoms. I started supplementing with b12 right away and I am now in the 800 range and feel much better. You should also check your iron and ferritin levels. Ferritin should ideally be around 70-100 for females and 100-150 for males. If you are going to supplement with b-12 I recommend a liquid or sublingual form. This will insure you get your b12 levels raised even if your stomach has absorption problems. Also Vitamin D is another important one that I was low in. Even though the range is 30-100 you want to be at least above 50 and ideally around 70-80. Supplementation has made a huge difference in the way I feel.

Thanks, Vitamin D was another one I was low in. The other levels are all good. My doctor told me to get the 2500mcg pills so I picked those up on my way home already and took one of them. I was just going to drink a glass of vitamin D milk each morning instead of getting a supplement for that.

If you are low in the Vitamin D I would use supplements. Even taking 3000 IU supplements has only brought my levels up 5 points a month. A glass of milk probably only has 200 IU's in it. Do a google search for the vitamin d council and read their suggested information on their site.
