So I am new here but I thought I would tell you all what I take. Besides anxiety medication I take thyroid medication because I have hypothyroidism. I also take two vitamins one is just a daily vitamin and one is b-12 because I am deficient in that so I am prescribed it.
Anxiety related I am on clonazapam (klonipin), alprazolam (Xanax), and recently I have added diazepam (Valium). I feel like a zombie most of the time. I can't considerate on things and I forget things. I have a college degree and can't work because of all the medication I am on. It's a nightmare. I was also recently on Wellbutrin but my doctor tried to change my dose and now it is no longer effective. I have been on so many different SSRI's and tricylaciate antidepressants and none of them have worked.

I only have Klonipin for the really rough patches but when I go through an extended rough patch the low dose prescribed (.5mg) just does not stop the symptoms. My SSRI is Zoloft and it worked well for many years. Now the anxiety is back. Doc trying the mix and match meds game trying to find something that works. Pray it works soon. How long have you been taking those 3 anti anxiety meds at same time? Personally I will take Zombie over Anxiety.

It's no surprise that you're having memory problems taking all those benzos. I take valium but only ocassionally. Do you take these daily? If so please consider a slow taper down, not off, all these. This is where you can run into significant side effects with slowed cognition, etc(depending on the dose). Have you had pyschotherapy to try and see if a cause can be found? There are other meds to try but if you are doing OK then try a dose reduction veeery slowly to see if you sharpen up a bit. If you can't reduce them some it might be time to talk over other meds like low dose antipyschotics, clonidine or lyrica, etc, with another pdoc. Alankay

It's incredible that the doctor is prescribing you so many benzos, those should only taken as needed. What are the mgs on the benzos?

Well for severe anxiety maybe, but docs often keep this more short term until one can get calmed down, on AD'S, in counseling, etc, but for some patients. Long term benzos use is still used with caution. Anyway this type of med regime should be reevaluated from time to time. Make no sudden changes. Alankay
