I keep having this, whoosh whoosh or like a pulsing sound. I know some of the reasons that are out there for why you hear it, but I am getting so annoyed by it. I lay down and I hear it. If I stand up and just stand there for a minute I hear it. I think it has been made worse today because I am just coming off of a cold or sinus problem that had me running a slight fever for a few days. Today is the first day I've been better and I notice it alot worse along with a pressure feeling in my head/face. Could this be sinus related making it worse? It scares me because when I hear it it feels like my face is going to explode sometimes and my doc says I'm fine, but I'm so scared my bp is getting too high or something.

It could be an inner ear infection or what they call a swimmers ear. Sometimes when I start feeling an ear infection coming. I also feel what you are describing, but in your case especially if you've had a cold/flu recently it could explain the wooshing sound or what not.

All to common with anxiety. I can hear it in my left ear if I lay down. It's your pulse and it beats stronger when your anxious. Also my anxiety is tied to my blood pressure so when anxiety goes up so does my BP. Hearing that sound leads to some additional anxiety. Sometimes I can't fall asleep on my left side but after I'm out it doesn't matter and when I wake up I don't notice it. Only falling asleep. This leads me to believe its anxiety / BP. Because when I wake up I'm not stressed but relaxed.
