I'm glad I read this. I thought I was the only one who felt like their throat was closing and couldn't swallow or breathe. It causes so much more panic. And with the heartburn, for me its more acid reflux. it comes up my throat and Burns. Crazy stuff. More than just what you usually hear that has to do with anxiety and panic disorder

That's called globus and there are exercises you can do for it such as hold a warm rag against your throat for 5 minutes, then take it off and put your feet against a wall. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling and without moving your body and keeping your eyes on the ceiling you rotate your head to the left and to the right ten times then take your hands and massage the muscle in the front I your neck on both sides up and down. This works very well as I have had this before and it is cause by tightening from anxiety

This is exactly my main symptom. Benzo(klonopin) works wonders for it. Have you tried it?

No I'm trying my hardest not to take any medicine for it as I'm trying for a baby! It's really hard as it consumes my everyday life! I wake up searching for the symptoms in my body!!

sometimes there is a lot of mucus. What happens a lot is I feel like I have to burp and it ends up being acid or something I ate and I have to swallow it. Makes me real sick to my stomach like nauseated

I feel woozy, blurred vision, detached from reality. It sucks :( would love to live life and not be so anxious all the time. Oh and it's 1000 times worse at night. Not nice when I live alone !

You'll want to make sure to be cleared by your doctor for GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) or any other medical condition.

Having difficulty swallowing is a fairly common symptom associated with anxiety called globus hystericus, especially felt during panic attacks. This feeling may be due to a combination of the muscles controlling the airway being tight (as other muscles are tense during anxiety) and an hyper sensitivity to bodily sensations for anxiety sufferers. Harmless but can be terrifying.
