Hi everyone. :) I've had anxiety/depression for some time now. I've been in therapy for about six months. My PCP tried me on an anti-depressant, which made my anxiety worse, and an anti-anxiety med which made me really jitter and hyped up. I'm currently looking for a psychiatrist, but a lot of people in my area suffer from SAD in the winter, so no one is taking new patients now. Since I apparently won't get getting meds soon, I really need some additional support, so I'm reaching out for that here.

I'm a 23 year old gal. I have a super cute dog who helps, and a very supportive boyfriend of almost eight months. My boyfriend has recently been struggling with stress, and last night shared that he thinks he has anxiety too. He is going to be seeking therapy, and we've agreed we want to support each other. However, I need additional resources so I can helps us both, and I'm hoping you guys will have some ideas. :) But I'll post that elsewhere.

What else? I like reading, running, playing with my dog, obviously spending time with my boyfriend, and watching scifi shows. I work full time and graduated from a university two years ago with a degree in English. :)

Welcome, we are here. You can try 5-HTP or even St. John's Wort for now but keep up the running and yeah, dogs rule!! :) Alankay

Thanks, Alankay! I am trying 5-HTP...started it about a week and a half ago. I take one in the morning and one at night. Do you know how long it takes to take effect? I'm doing a mish-mash of other things too: magnesium, multivitamins, D3, aceytl-c, vitamin b, all sorts of things which I started on the 1st.
I can't try St. John's Wort, unfortunately...I'm on birth control and they don't get along. I'd rather try to figure out anxiety than get pregnant. >_>;;

How does one start their own thread?
