hi was recently diagnosed with anxiety. i have bad chest pressure sometimes sharp pains. my stomach is always growling and i get pains in my stomach. its the worst feeling ever when i think im having a heart attack. doctor perscribed me to lexapro i took it for 4 days but the side effects were terrible. i now deal with it by drinking every night to make me feel better. its hurting my relationship. im getting married in 3 months and in the process of buying a house and things have just been rough lately. its hard to go out and have a good time or enjoy time with family with this happening im a 24 yr old male and i use to think i could deal with anything. any advice?

Have you spoken to your doctor about CBT? Or tried any natural remedies?
If not, it's probably worth a try. If you're not fond of prescribed medication then herbal may be best.

I bought Dr Bach Aspen flower remedy today from my local health food store (I think they do them in some chemists too). Put a few drops in some water & sip it throughout the day. After about an hour I felt a lot calmer & my heart was not beating as fast.

Camomile tea is another that I'd recommend, even if it only works as the comfort of a hot drink.

We're the same age, so I can understand what you're going through. I also drink at nights to help, but I want to stop as this may turn into a completely different problem.

Try showing your partner this website if she doesn't understand. Maybe it would help.

Restart the lexapro or switch to another ssri. You can start at 1/2 dose for a week then go to the full dose to minimize side effects and give it time. Sometimes docs will give you a small rx of a benzo like valium to get you past hard side effects on the ssri's so ask about that and just use the minimum. Limit caffeine and alcohol and try some light aerobic exercise. Busy times in life can be exciting and anxiety provoking for many so hang in there!:) Yes, CBT and psychotherpay are indeed recommended. PM me any time. Alankay
