Does anyone else have anxiety ABOUT anxiety medication? I do! Im scared to take my zoloft because I have sleep problems sometimes and I'm scared it will mess me up, since I read that insomnia is one of the larger side effects of zoloft. I'm also a slim guy, and am worried that zoloft might make me lose weight. Is this just me worrying too much? Should I just take the zoloft and try it? I need to do something because this anxiety is consuming me. I am torn between zoloft, paxil, (which I am a bit scared of because of its addictive properties), and prozac..I just want to make sure whatever med I use will not adversely affect my sleep, or cause me to lose weight. I actually wouldn't mind gaining a few pounds, just nothing too major. I feel like I have panic attacks when I am in an enclosed room, which I cannot be in under any circumstances, or when I face large-scale social situations. I just need something to help me cope with my anxiety. I am not depressed but just anxious. I guess I just need to experiment and see what works for me. I do remember a few years ago I had a makjor panic attack and went to the ER for it, and was given ativan intravenously and also prescribed it which I took for a couple days and I felt a relief from anxiety the likes of which I never felt before or since. But I know ativan is highly addictive like Paxil. So maybe zoloft isn't that bad? How about Prozac? I'm just very treatment naive and needing an easy option and the courage to start taking something so I can beat this anxiety once and for all!

I am the same way! I have been prescribed lexapro 4 times and haven't ever started the stuff. I tried one 10mg pill and had a panic attack from it wanted to go to the hospital and have it flushed out and everything else... Lol. I was, however, on Paxil a few years ago.... If I take it take just before u go to sleep or first thing in the morning because it made me feel kind of zombie ish for the first few days and I couldn't sleep. But I done okay on it.

Take the Zoloft it works, it will take a few weeks or even a month before you feel any better, you might not feel that its working for a while but give it a chance. And if Zoloft doesn't help their is plenty of other meds. I never wanted to take any type of pills for my anxiety/depression but it was very overwhelming. I still get anxious about taking meds, but I take them anyways! Keep your head up.
