Hello everyone,

I've recently been diagnosed with panic disorder and its beginning to get me down. They are fairly chronic, and I get faint, can't walk, can't talk and my hands/arms lock into fists and curl against my sides. This shut down in turn makes me panic more as I can't tell anyone/do anything to help myself if I'm on my own!!

Edited - realise I've posted this in the wrong bit! But I'm glad to have found something that can help me talk to others in the same boat

:)

LH, I've been there. This is because you feel so bad you have a very hard time coping..... but there is help. Have you been offered to start an ssri med as well as a small rx of a benzo(ativan/klonopin) to stop the panic plus counseling?
PM me any time. Alankay

Hi A,

Thanks. I've not been offered anything yet but they have said to go to my GP if it continues with a view to getting some! Just wanted to figure out why it's happening first and see if it stops but I'm assuming its not that easy!!

Thanks, L

Hi there, the same thing happened to me. I had one giving blood and ever since that i seemed to have more and more literally over everything i thought about! It got to the point where I was physically sick. Went to the docs and they diagnosed me with anxiety / panic attacks after checking my thyroid. I've been referred for counselling and prescribed with some beta blockers. I haven't taken them as yet as I found after the doctor telling me my blood results were all okay it really reassured me and made me feel better! Also the chemist recommended a book called stop thinking start living. I found this really helpful! My advice would be to go to the docs now and know that you are not on your own!
