Hello...this is my first day here and I think I suffer from generalized anxiety. I have days on end that seem ok and then can become overly anxious over the smallest of life's difficulties and stay in that state of anxiety for hours or sometimes days. I'm glad this forum exists.....

When you start to experience anxiety galvanise yourself into some form of active activity. This will help to 'drive off' your negative feelings. Exercising is a very powerful way to help yourself with symptoms like this. Remember, exercising cost you nothing, all you need do is jog if you can or work your way up to jogging via speedy walking. Many people fail self-help this way because it seem just too simple!

Welcome,
I thought my panic attacks were bad until I read your post. suffering through days of anxiety must be terrible! I agree with dogtime in saying that you need to distract yourself with some other activities however start small. Going out for a jog may not be the best thing to start with since being anxious can cause your heart rate to increase and mimic a panic attack. Try fliping on the t.v or turn on the radio, go for a walk, or meditate. practice breathing slowly fully filling your lungs and then letting it go.
It can be the little things that help us the most :)

I started doing crafts and sewing to help. When I feel anxiety I will start or finish a project I am doing. I suffer everyday with anxiety. Not so much that I can't breath and stuff just very nervous, scared, shaky and heart skipps beats every day and I find if I start doing my crafts or sewing it makes me think of what I am doing and not focus just on my anxiety and it starts getting better. Even my heart palps slow down. Try doing something you enjoy. Even if its getting up and doing laundry, dishes, ect and turn on music you like and just say, this will pass and distract your mind. It does not get rid of my anxiety for good, sad to say but it sure helps me get through it:) good luck:)

Hi everyone, im new here, just want to say that this app truly is helpful. I have no idea what i suffer from, but sometimes i really wonder how i am still here. I dont know if u have ever googled "Over 100 Symptoms of Anxiety" but thats exactly what i suffer from. It started in january 2011. I cant believe i am even sitting here writing about this because a part of still is in denial. But i know now that this cant be my imagination. Ive been to the er 4 times in less than 2 months thinking my heart would stop, or i had a tumor or whatever else my mind felt like torturing me with. Its amazing what the mind is capaple of.
These days its alot more tolerable because i have seen the worst of the worst days. Sometimes more than 10 symptoms in a day other days just a couple. But i sure as heck wasnt this nonchalant.about it a year ago. Bottom line is, belief in God instead of therapists aimlessly taking a stab at what they think u have or pills that are addictive or just dont work at all... Just have faith, be around positive people, read the bible, and live your life. Its a gift. The bible tells.us,.you cannot add one more minute to your life by worrying. So stop.
