Hey all

iv been suffering with anxiety and depression for almost 2 years now
at the start i was offered medication (cant remember what it was called), i kept the proscription but never went along the medication route
to this day i have never took and meds because iv always been against them,
i didnt even take st. john warts that a close friend of my moms suggested

however.....

i have an older brother that suffers from crohns disease, he has had it for around 10 years now
to start of with he was on like 15 tablets a day, this went up and day through out the first so many years
about a year or 2 ago he went into doing research on his illness and found there was a bad side effect of all the treatment that was offered to him
cancer from the tablets or things that could go wrong if he went down the surgical route
he then stumbled onto the use of medical marijuana to treat his illness, and he has been using that ever since, and tbf he has been doing a whole lot better

my brother and i had a chat a few months back, he said to do some research into medical marijuana and see if it helps anxiety and depression (he was adamant that it would help) now iv done a bit of research into it but all i have found evidence for and against it

so i was wondering if anyone on here has had any experiences with it and if so was it good or bad
or even just your views on it

cheers
Richy

There is no such thing as medicinal marijuana where I live, but I can tell you that a number of people on this forum, myself included have had adverse reactions to it when used recreationally.

I'm not anti marijuana - in fact, I can imagine it has potentially huge benefits for chronic pain sufferers and people with cancer who are struggling through chemo or radiation treatment. I have also read that it can be used successfully to treat anxiety.

I guess it all depends on the strain and how your body reacts to it. If I were you, I would seek the advice of a doctor who specializes in this field. There are a number of alternative options for treating anxiety.

Good luck.

I was a stoner for 7 years. Trust me on this it DOES NOT HELP. Like any drug it masks symptoms, and in time creates new ones.

Steer clear of weed entirely. It changes your personality, removes drive and passion you have for things and turns you into a lazy and selfish person. It might take months or years, but there comes a point in every chronic users life when they realize that they've just lived in a fog whilst smoking weed and nothing productive has come of it.

I'd be interested to see if anyone responds to this thread saying that marijauna helped! I have yet to meet an anxiety sufferer out there who says it works for them, but I'm sure there are folks out there!

My first anxiety attack was experienced after I had smoked a joint. After 15 minutes of doing so my heart started pounding and I thought my life was over. I was 16.

I have tried marijauna twice since then and have found that I suffer the same symptoms. I will feel the relaxing benefit to it, but its a good hour after using it, and AFTER going through that hour of hell, so it's not worth it.

There's my two cents! :)

I used to be a stoner too... but then it started giving me panic attacks, even the smell will send me one.

One the other hand, my friend has anxiety too and smokes tons of it, seems to work good for him.
