Hi I just joined. I've been looking for anxiety/panic attack support for so long and finally found this forum. I'm desperate for someone to talk to and want to find a community of support. My anxiety has gotten to the point where it hurts to breathe and I have severe panic attacks that prevent me from driving. I've been on meds lexapro, celexa, but not on anything at the moment and thinking its time to go see a psychiatrist again for some help

consideing lately im baving worsened symptoms. consd

Welcome, anxiety is terrible and the symptoms make you feel so ill it's not nice, I've found this forum helps a lot people are always here to reassure you and you find that when you are reassuring others too you actually reassure yourself, good luck in calming your anxiety x

Jean, if the AD's didn't help and you gave them a long and fair trial you should see a doc and ask about a referral to a psychologist and an rx for a benzo like ativan or klonopin but only if the AD didn't help with a fair trial. You need to break the cycle of anxiety and more anxiety and get back driving, working, etc. IMHO. Alankay

Jean,

Hello, and welcome! I'm sorry that you're going through such a rough time. I think it's a good idea to see a psychiatrist, but meds alone are not going to "cure" you of anxiety. Basically, they can help stabilize your mood somewhat, kind of take the edge off. It might be a good idea to see a talk therapist who can help you discover what's at the root of your anxiety. Have you ever tried relaxation exercises? You can find them on YouTube. Just something 5-10 minutes long. If you can train yourself to relax, you can learn to bring down your feelings of anxiety. I also suggest journaling your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes, if you get something down on paper, your brain will stop sending "alert" signals that can trigger anxiety. I hope you find the answers that you seek.
