I joined this board today because I feel it would help to talk to others that are going through similar struggles. I am an army wife and my husband is deployed so I feel like I am suffering alone. My anxiety has been the worst for the past few months. I hope that I can find some good info from you guys that will help me better manage my stress and anxiety. Looking forward to a brighter future.

Hi there! I feel for you and understand. The onset of my future with panic attacks anxiety began while I was stationed in Kings Bay Georgia with my husband who at the time was a Marine and always gone. Hang in there. There are some great people on here and lots of good advice.

Thanks so much for your reply! It is a lot to deal with when it comes to the military but I thought I have been doing good until this year. Guess everyone has their breaking points.

Are there any support groups for military wives?

I'm sure there are. I'm just not the type of person to share my personal story with people I don't know. It took a lot for me to put this out here on the forum. I guess I feel that I am bothering people with my troubles. Most of my anxiety is related to things going on here. I've gotten used to him always being gone since that's all we really know anymore. It would be nice to have him here to help me control it though. He's always been the one thing that can calm me down.

I understand. I'm glad you are reaching out to someone for help. I just thought that maybe they would understand your point of view better than us. You say that your anxiety is related to "stuff here". What are those things? You're not bothering anyone here by talking about your troubles.

Well, I started getting really bad anxiety after I got sick in Sept. I had an upper resp infection and could barely breathe so I went to the ER twice. Then I was diagnosed with acid reflux and my esophagus is pretty damaged. I'm on nexium for that. Ever since, I am conscious of my breathing and scared that I'm going to get sick again. I also notice any little pain and start worrying. That only causes me to worry about other things..... like a domino effect.

My wife was watching ophra’s favorite things episode and it was all about military wives. There is a magazine published just on that topic. Look for it on her own website, it might help.

I'm glad that they found the problem quickly, and that you are on meds for that. It sounds like you have racing thoughts, which is a specific symptom of anxiety. Have you discussed this with your doctor? There are some good meds out there, which can help, but it's also important to deal with the root of your anxiety. If you're opposed to talking to someone about it, you may find some relief in journaling your thoughts and feelings.

I haven't discussed this with my doc yet but I know I will be. I don't see me managing this alone. I have actually started a journal and I find it does bring some relief.

It sounds like you are on your way to healing! Your doctor is there to be your ally, so don't downplay your symptoms. Be frank, and maybe make some notes before you see your MD. I hope you find the relief you seek.

Thanks so much, Sunnie! I'm trying to be positive and patient. I know things won't happen over night. Just taking it day by day.
