I think it increases the co2 level abit and can cause the feeling of unreality or fuzziness/lightheadedness that even scares us more. But if you know better and that's what causing it, it help makes it less scary. Alankay

I've also thought about it this way...
When I have had a pannick attack in the past, this one time I rang the ambulance and they came and put the clip thing on my finger that measures your oxygen levels and pulse, when I was having the attack my oxygen levels went to 85% ? Is this normal? They went back up within a minute or so but with someone speaking about it today it's made me think lol

85% is dangerously low. Anything less than 98% is questionable!!

Nicole123x, Your O2 saturation is going to depend primarily on your levels of respiration and exertion. Some people hyperventilate (breath too much) during panic attacks which causes high Oxygen saturation. Some people hypo-ventilate (they don't breath enough) which causes low O2 levels. Mindful breathing during a panic attack can be very helpful important in helping your body both regulate O2 levels and generally decrease your level of physiological arousal (stress). You might google mindful breathing or look for videos on youtube.
