I have noticed some decrease in anxiety, but it comes in waves. I don't know if its the zoloft or the anxiety that causes me to not be able to sleep or my lack of appetite. Can barely eat anything, it's such a chore eat. I can get to sleep with a ativan, but I don't stay asleep long and in and out of sleep the rest of the night. I also have a metallic taste in my mouth, some numbness. So wish I could get a full night of sleep need it so bad. My doctor gave me Ambien but I haven't been able to take it, don't need anymore side effects then I already have. Any help would be welcomed, thanks in advance.

I have nothing good to say about zoloft that stuff messed me up bad.... dont recommend it for anyone.... when your lookin for a exceptable anti depressant u wanna talk to your doc about wether its an upper or downer. I have found with my anxiety n panic attacks i cant have anything that is a stimulant. An sum medz are. Be very careful about using zoloft its a severe upper which can make your anxiety increased along with other side effects.

Zoloft takes some time( 4 weeks or so) to start working to its full effect. In the beginning it can and usually does increase anxiety and can make it worse in some cases.

Once I was on it for around a month there was a major improvement in the anxiety level but I slept all the time I was tired and no matter how much I rested it was not enough.

For me I had to stop the zoloft due to the tiredness, a different med called pristiq worked for me and I didn't have very many side effects.

The best thing you can do is learn ways to cope, such as relaxation, diet and lifestyle changes etc.. In the end those are the only ways to truly beat anxiety.

One other tip, don't take the ativan as a habit, it can be addictive so only take it when you absolutely need it and take as little as possible when you do.

Yep, all ssri's can do that but wind up making you better in the long run......... in general. But for some, they don't help enough and so are not worth it or they aggravate anxiety too much. Prozac gave me a few anxiety attacks but I stuck with it with the help of an occasional valium and now I'm in a much better place anxiety wise after settling on 20mg per day of prozac and have not plan to change. Some docs give you a small rx of a benzo if your anxiety spikes just to get you throughand stay on the med. No one way works for all and that's for sure. Alankay

I just past the 3 week mark on Zoloft 50 mg, I can say that I has decreased my anxiety because I dont feel like i am going into a panic anymore. I just have a constant level of anxiety, that goes away just sometimes. But it is the lack of sleep and appetite that drives me crazy. I just want to hit the pillow and wake up in the morning feeling refreshed, instead of contantly wound up. Thanks for the comments guys.
