Hey there! I'm on Lexapro 10mg day 5, and I think it finally started to work! Hang in there, I felt really weird a couple of days ago (dizzy, tired, and just out of it). I actually feel significantly more calm today and things are just seeming to bother me less. I don't think this is a placebo either, I have TERRIBLE anxiety and my brain isn't easily tricked haha. -Laura

I know how you feel, it can be scary! But try to relax and ride it out if you can and know that it's totally normal to feel like that. Is this your first time taking an anti-anxiety med?

I was so scared the first time I tried lexapro, about two years ago, that I stopped two days in. I wish I had just stuck it out because the past two years have been SO hard on me. I just decided finally a few weeks ago that a couple days of feeling crappy totally outweighs living with anxiety . If the side effects now aren't TOO bad, I would try to stick it out at least for a couple days. Did your dr. Give you a benzo or the meanwhile ? Alot of times to get through the first few weeks a dr. will prescribe xanax or Ativan which can help with the initial symptoms. Maybe you could ask your dr. for something to help !

Yeah I know I should really stick it out I just don't wanna be a mess for my kids but I suppose in the long run I will reap the benefits... I have 2 mg valium, which help me get to sleep:)

Good! I promise it gets better in a few days :) Lemme tell you one week of this is a LOT better than two years of horrible anxiety. My biggest regret is not staying on it the first time I tried it. Just imagine your life a year from now and imagine if you could look back and pick either a few bad days compared to a year full of anxiety and stress. I bet you and your family would pick the few bad days any day ! Good luck, if you need any help or want to talk message me, I'm really going thru this too for the first time ! -Laura

I'm happy to read you are feeling strong and like it's all worth it Maggie *Hugs* You can do it :) x
Laura, you have a great attitude, wish i had thought of it that way sooner. I also chickened out of lexapro 1 1/2 years ago on the third day and wish now I'd hung in there, this time I'm at Day 9 and no turning back :)

I'm so glad you guys are sticking it out! I just know I regret scaring myself out of it before and I don't want anyone to feel like I did for the past few years. just remember any symptom that happens isn't permanent and take a deep breath and be proud of yourself for being strong because it will be worth it! It's what I've had to tell myself 100x last week lol , and I honestly feel much better than I did than. Hope everyone has a good day:)

Hi Laura and welcome to our thread about Lexapro. I started taking my lexapro (generic) on Thursday so today is day 6. So far so good. I agree that a few days or so of side effects are better then the anxiety. I too should have done this a while ago but I think like anything else until you're ready to commit to something it won't work. I'm finally in the right place to start taking care of myself.
