I was just told that my previous ECG that was assured to me was negative. Actually had an inverted t wave on it. I was told to stop smoking etc. I'm freaking out I'm dying at 30. I get heart palps and flutters, the odd race. Anyone have any advice or is this my normal. And not really life threatening?

Everyone that I know who had a heart study with ECG told me they had abnormalities on there results and that they told them the same things! My test came back the same...with abnormalities, I had a stress test done and everything was fine! Don't worry ur not dying!

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. I had SVT, where my heart would race for no reason. I had an ablation to fix it and now it doesn't race anymore, but I still occasionally get skipped beats and fluttering. My cardiologist assured me its completely normal and ALOT of people get them.
You're not dieing, if there was something serious going on they would tell you and fix it :)

I just don't understand why 3 months ago he tells me it's fine! Then upon review with this other doctor she says it's not. But given my bloods for everything like cholesterol, heart, organs etc was fine, would that still leave me at risk for a heart attack with clean arteries?its going to take months for a cardio appt I redid the ECG today now I'm waiting for holter monitor. Will the holter tell exactly what's happening? I don't trust the ECG if it doesn't catch my palps. I'm a mess I'm 30 and now believe I'm dying. Omfg!!

How many inverted T's? (just the one? or continuous?)

Inverted T waves are not uncommon and more often than not are nothing to worry about.

The upshot is that as long as you feel well and have normal echocardiograms / stress tests then all is well.
(If you haven't had either test then do so for peace of mind)

What's important here is that the heart structure is normal and that there is no prevailing disease. If this is so, then an inverted T is very unlikely to cause you any issues... ever.

What's possibly happened is that the doctors hadn't previously compared the new ecg to a previous one. The concern is probably because of something different or has changed and because of this, they are most likely being over cautious but will need to run more tests just to be sure.

Just a thought: Perhaps a palp. or high heart rate occured during the last ECG? This would surely show what would appear to be a anomoly - even though it likely isn't.

No D it was the same ECG from July. So the doc that ordered it gave me the ok that it was normal back when I did it. Then another doctor reviewed the same ECG yesterday and said why did he tell you it was normal? It's not! Then she tells me I could have ischemia and orders me not to smoke or I could have z heart attack. I redid an ECG yesterday but I'm going back to see the original doc today and find his reasoning as to why he thought this was normal. In Canada it takes months to see specialists. Life threatening of not!! You can only imagine having these symptoms and someone telling you that you have heart disease! How do I know if my heart structure is normal? All I have is my bloods and my ECG. I hope to get the holter soonish! Is it possible that this t wave is just my normal? That was another suggestion from the doc.

The ECG's I've had done produced an automatic normal/abnormal result on the print out (i.e. the ECG computer examined & concluded the plot). The doctors didn't even need to look at the graph.
Did yours not give you a result there and then? (I assume not)

An echocardiogram produces a picture of your heart via sound and shows the structure / movement - in real time.

Yes, the inverted T could be your normal wave. A lot of children have it but it can extend into adulthood.

The doc. told you to stop smoking because a/ they're bound to (any excuse) but also b/ inverted T wave could indicate a lack of oxygen to some heart tissue.

I sympathise with the waiting - that's just shit.

That's what scares me is the lack of oxygeb to heart tissue!! Is this something I caused? Or is it just a blip on the sheet? All of the ECG here have to go through cardio before the results are released. Mine however said nothing! I've worked in the medical field for over a decade they always say something!!! I'm so fucking mad etc....
