Until a month ago I had not seen a doctor for 10 years. I have suffered with Panic Attacks, Anxiety, and Social Phobia for as long as I can remember but I HATE pills. (both parents and ex-husband are addicts) I finally broke down and went and was put on Zoloft, and Xanax. The Zoloft works well, but the Xanax does nothing to stop my panic attacks. I am only on 5mg, and I have had 3 panic attacks since I was put on the medication.

I have called my doctor to see if I should take TWO pills (10mg) next time I feel a panic attack coming on, but she hasn't called back yet. The way I feel about it is: I don't want to take medication if it doesn't do anything. So I either need to up my dose before I see her, or stop taking them altogether until I talk to her.

What should I do? Will taking 10mg hurt me? I don't want to make myself sick or take TOO MUCH medicine....

If xanax doesn't help at 5 mg(are you sure it's not .5 mg), stop using it and stay with the zoloft. If it is .5 mg, yes, going to 1.0 mg would be an option. But if the zoloft works keep with it. Alankay
