Hi,

Newbie here! I stopped taking propanalol around 2-3 months ago (still taking 187.5mg venfalaxine a day) but these last few weeks I've been really panicky. Before a couple of propanalol would sort me out no problem but I'm reluctant to keep going back to them whenever my anxiety flairs up. It's got to the point where I feel like my venfalaxine isn't actually doing anything - worked great for the first 18 months but now I feel like I'm regressing and back to where I started with my anxiety!

Has anyone got any suggestions? I'm seeing my GP next week but they usually just like to write a prescription so thought I'd see whether anyone has any anti- anxiety medication advice to offer.

Thanks.

Bx

When I first started taking my meds I felt great but then they felt like they stopped working. So my doc said that we just had to find the right dose for me.we have finally found the right dose and now everything is normal.

Propranalol is great for tremor/racing heart so ask about clonazepam or maybe clorazepate. You've tried the srni long enough but stay on it. Have you had any counseling to help see if there is a reason for your anxiety? PM me any time. Alankay.

I found propranolol to be really helpful. I started on 80mg slow release tabs daily and am now on 10mg daily and that seems to keep the racing heart, feelings of being on edge etc away. It might be an idea to start them again, there is no shame in having to rely on meds for awhile and when you feel ready you can stop again. Have you seen a counsellor or therapist to help you?
