Howdy folks

My brother's girlfriend suffers from frequent sinus issues, such as runny nose, head aches, her eyes often look pinky in colour, often knackered & in bed by 9pm!... kind of like having a cold but it's not a cold.

She's had it for some 10 years (since 17)

Tried all kinds of drugs / antihistimines but to no or little avail.

It's as if the sensors in her nose are reacting to something which most people are immune to. Something common... in the air... maybe even just air itself! lol

I reckon it's an allergy, but she says she tried all kinds of things like avoiding contact with pets, etc.
Might be something in food!?

God knows...

Just wondered if there were any snotty nose experts in the house? :-)

The "reverse genie lamp", haha!
Keeps cropping up on this forum doesn't it!

Good point actually. I don't really like her that much so perhaps I'll get her one and fill it with wallpaper paste...

Haha do you have loads of pics of people and their nose lamps on your pc? LOL
Having a constant runny nose is a real pain in the arse, especially when you can't sniff it back up you gotta wipe and blow your nose every two minutes or stick tissue up there and look like a dork

If it happens throughout the whole year it's probably an allergy to dust mites. I get that too, and most antihistamines don't help much... I take one with pseudoephedrine which does alleviate the worst symptoms... Nasal sprays are also helpful.

But I was tested by an expert so I know for sure what my allergy is and what prophylactic measures to take (the effective way), so I suggest she does the same. It's very debilitating!!!

Hi

Thanks for this info. Nasal spray as in steroid spray? (I believe that's what she applies and it helps a little)

Might be mold in your home. I know I am deathly allergic and if I avoid it and sniff before I go in houses or rooms I can tell if its moldy right away and I don't go back in, ever. I get a migraine the minute I walk in!

Has she been to see an ENT specialist? I have a nightmare with my sinuses and saw an ENT doc years ago- they stick cameras up your nose to see what's going on. She could have a deviated septum, polyps or even a dairy allergy (they can make people all mucussy- nice). Steroid nasal sprays are great in the short term but can make things worse in the long run. Also does she smoke? According to my doc if I stopped smoking all my sinus problems would go away (still not incentive enough to give up though!)
