Hey guys - how is everyone?
I'm new to this forum - or any for that matter!! I will start off with telling my story:

I am 19 and have panic disorder with agoraphobia. I've had it for about 7 years and only got help from anyone for it 2 years ago. I was in the end of first semester of grade 12 (17) and decided a few months before that I didn't want to go to school or even think about going at all. So before second semester started I had told my parents about what was going on. The made me an appointment with our family doctor and he then referred me on to a psychiatrist because i was still no of legal age for him to even think about assessing me himself. It took about a month and half before I saw the psychiatrist and when I did, she diagnosed me with panic disorder with agoraphobia. This for me was a turning point because for so many years I didn't know what was happening to me and basically lost my life. I was put on medication because it was my feelings that I was just too far "gone" to even begin to help myself through CBT alone. Along with the medication, I also did CBT and to me, that was VERY effective. I am now going out by myself in public, no more panic, reconnecting with my old friends and new ones, independent and most importantly as of now, I am currently in post secondary and loving it. Close to 2 years ago, I absolutely didn't see myself doing this.
Aside from the panic, I am apart of an awesome family. My parents as well as my siblings are very supportive and just over all GREAT! I have three dogs which include a shih tzu, foo foo and boxer and I love em' all! I also have a handsome nephew and adorable niece!
I think that's it for now - can't think of anything else (laziness :P) So if anyone could give me some tips or even just share what they've/ are been through that would be great..

Glad to hear that things are turning around for you. Anxiety is a real beast, it comes out of nowhere and doesn't want to leave, it's that house guest that just won't govaway.

Seems you are on a good path, just keep to what you know. Remember the things in your cbt training and keep to them, as long as you live above the anxiety it can't touch you.
