So I visited a psychiatrist earlier this month and walked out prescribed a handful of meds... She told me from what I told her I have an anxiety/panic disorder. She prescribed me Prozac, Buspar, Atarax, and Trazadone. Like i said im new to this whole med thing right so heres how things have been going.... the prozac and buspar are supposeably supposed to take full effect within 2 weeks yesterday would have been two weeks.... I dont feel any different in fact my mind seems to race more now then before... ? The trazadone was prescribed to help me sleep because my anxious feelings and thoughts dont allow me to get any sleep. they worked for 2 nights and now they just give me major headaches and more sleepless nights. the atarax she was i was to use every 4 hours for a panic relief they dont do anything either? Im new to all this i need some advice from others and maybe some of your experiences what should i do and what should i say to my dr.... just call her up and tell her there not working or give it some more time.... more time i can do but not much more my life is becoming unmanageable because of this stress and anxiety i just want to have a clear mind... help anyone..

It's been a week since you posted, sorry no one replied. How are you doing? Prozac can take longer than 2 weeks to kick in, by 1 month you should be feeling relief. Buspar is likely the culprit for your headaches - it is notorious for that. Atarax is an antihistamine -- it has mild anti-anxiety properties so it's not surprising you're not feeling anything from it.

Perhaps w/o the Buspar induced headaches the Trazadone would have the intended effect at bed. You should discuss it w/ your doctor.

Hi Jereca! I've taken Buspar and Vistaril (just like Atarax but with a different salt attached to it). Buspar gave me TERRIBLE vertigo that just got worse over time, took it for about 2 weeks before I couldn't take the vertigo. Vistaril just made me sluggish and irritable. Never taken Prozac, but have taken Paxil, Effexor, and Zoloft, each at different times since 2001. Paxil worked really well when combined with Neurontin; after about 3 weeks of taking these, I noticed an overall improvement in my attitude and mood. Effexor helped me concentrate and made me more productive and I could get things done. Zoloft really didnt do crap. Hope this helps!
