Can anyone tell me how to place an avatar? The 'edit avatar' in the settings doesn't give me the option to upload or anything

Hey there! I figured I'd sign up in anticipation for the next peak because when it peaks it helps to have people to resort to.

Symptoms of my anxiety started over a year ago at night. I was trying to sleep and started having these weird feelings all over my body, sort of like as if my sensory receptors were rebooting. Numbness travelling from one end of my body to the other followed by tingling and a burn sensations, 'moving' along my length. And occasionally I get a brief burst of dizziness, almost like I fainted for a second followed by feeling like I ran out of breath. Days after this began symptoms worsened and one by one I felt most symptoms on the list on the general forum. Eventually full blown panic attacks started, sudden and mostly unexpected bursts of pure fear, confusion, tunnel vision and over-the-speed-limit drives to the hospital.

As time went by and I did some research I came to terms with my symptoms and I made sizeable feats in ignoring the worst of them. Nowadays panic attacks have been reduced to rare and mild events and my current experience with anxiety is in the form of a generalized anxiety disorder. It's always there, in the background, giving me the constant breathing difficulties, peaking from time to time and turning a mild headache into a fear that I'm developing alzhimer's or something equally improbable.

I'm in the process of changing lifestyle and dietary habits drastically but i'll be looking for some natural remedies to combating anxiety as pharmaceuticals are not an option for me unless it's a life and death situation.

Hello Deoxy!

Anxiety and stress can cause a wide range of symptoms, I for one get grand mal seizures when I'm really stressed. It's amazing what the body does to itself when it's under pressure, too bad none of it is helpful. XD

I take a lot of supplements to help my stress though it doesn't sound like your into that. So I will list all the natural stuff you can do that may help. :)
- Sunlight (aka Vitamin D) NOTE: Calcium helps the body absorb vitamin D.
- Iron
- Exercise
- Folate
- Massage
- Fish Oil
- Relaxation
- Yoga

(Also I find going gluten free helps me. There is no proof that it works but I find it make me feel calmer.)

I got some ideas from a book by beyond blue. It's called "A Guide to What Work's for Depression" if your interested in looking in to it. I find it very helpful.

Well good luck and I hope I have helped a bit. :)

Oh don't get me wrong I'm all for supplements, just not medication. I don't think the side effects are worth it unless my life's in danger. I'm hardly eating anything lately and I'm sure not getting any of the nutrients you mentioned. Any good yoga instructions online? :)

Ah ok fair enough. I can relate to that, my latest medication sent me looney and scared the crap out of me. Thank goodness it wore off!

I haven't tried yoga myself though I would love to. I know YouTube has some great yoga classes that are great for beginners. I was looking into one in particular that looked really good. If I find the link to the page I'll give it to you. :)

*Okay I found it but I can't post links yet. So if you search "yogatic" in Google it should be the first link. I hope that helps. <3
