I've had to start taking these for migraine prophylaxis. I noticed that the physically symptoms of anxiety have gone away for me, and now it's just in my head, which is good because I can deal with it then.
anyone else had any luck with these?

I am a great advocate for bete blockers since I started them several months ago. Like you the physical symptoms went away - the increased heart rate, sweating, shaking, dizziness and so on. I still had the issues in my head but because the physical symptoms were under control I could deal with them a lot better and I felt I got a lot more from therapy sessions because i was able to take on board what my therapist was saying instead of just freaking out about feeling so crap.

I am 32 and had my first bout of major anxiety when I was 20. Since then I have had a few more "episodes" of it which would leave me having to be off work sick and having no life for months at a time. I feel that if I had been given beta blockers when i was first diagnosed with anxiety i would have not had these other episodes. Or if I had I would have been able to cope better with them.

Which beta blocker? I was prescribed bystolic but didn't take it yet.

Indoral? Inderal? It's one of the most commonly perscribed beta blockers.
I haven't noticed any adverse effects yet other than some nutty dreams.

I'm on propranolol (I think Inderal is one of the brand names for it). Started on 80mg slow release tablets and am now on just 10mg daily. For the first few weeks I had really freaky dreams but that soon went away.

How do they affect people who regularly exercise like myself?

Amazingly enough, theyre banned in professional sports like the Olympics because they lower your heart rate..which in turn preserves useable energy to an advantage. Keep excercising Sediment!!
