Im new to this...also VERY happy to know there is other people out there like me...
Im 23, i have had anxiety/panic attacks for about 9 years...on and off...they actually went away for a while..but of course came back :(
I have panic attacks/anxiety everyday now and I just recently realized i have agoraphobia....
I cant go far away from my house without having to worry about the anxiety...its the WORST feeling ever...
I use to be very active and now i just want to stay home because of this fear....
:( I just want to be myself again.

Hi Christie. I'm Holly. I know it's such a good feeling to know you aren't alone. Hopefully this place helps you with any questions you have. I'm here too, if you want to talk. Hope the anxiety goes down, I know how difficult it is to feel "normal" with it.

I just dont know if im normal because of the feelings i get?
For instance, I cant drive to far places without my mom (she is like my safe person) its very weird bc i am 23..... she is a nurse in a ER so it makes me feel very comfortable when i am with her incase of anything ya know?
I have talked to a doctor and they put me on Zoloft..i never took it or ever plan too because i dont want to depend on a drug , i REALLY want to over come this myself..is that even possible?
Sorry for the questions, i just dont know where to turn and i am very happy to have found a site like this.....
Thank you ...
Christie.

I have that exact thing. I can't walk anywhere alone, I'm too afraid of getting attacks. I hate driving long distances, because I'm afraid of getting attacks. I don't have a "safe person", I just need anybody really. I understand how it is though, I love being with/around people, especially if they know I have anxiety and everything.
Well, I'm not sure if it is possible to get over it. I guess it can not bother you as much. Like for me, I don;t have panic attacks a lot, I get a lot of anxiety attacks, and now I feel like I have toruble breathing.
If you don't take anythign for it, theer are other natural ways of learning to control it and how to handle it when it does happen. I'm going the natural way too.
It's okay that you ask me questions, I'll try to answer them as best as I can. I like helping people and listening to them.
I hope I helped you a bit. And anytime you want to talk, I'll be here. :)

Hi,
I'm also 23 and I've probably had anxiety since my last year of high school or my first year in college. I think everything really built up when I got mono (during my first quarter). Over the years, my anxiety has built up to an overwhelming level and it has somewhat leveled off. I don't have panic attacks so often, because I have developed agoraphobia. Therefore, I've avoided the things that have caused me to panic in the past, such as driving along (on the streets and the highways), going out alone. Just going out to check the mail when my husband is at work is a major deal for me. I get anxiety just about doing that. My husband is my "safe" person, and even with him, I can barely drive. I used to drive over a hundred miles in a day and now I can't even drive down the street by myself. I never thought that I would develop agoraphobia, but now I've been at this point and I'm getting sick of it. It's good to know that there are other people like this. Before when I used to panic, I always thought that I was going to die and I was going crazy. Now, I know what the case was and still is. I'm just trying to figure out how to solve it. And I have no intentions of taking medication for this. I want to solve this without having to depend on meds. :)
