Hate that my boyfriend is my security blanket when it comes to my panic and anxiety. I want to be able to be normal without him here ... I don't have many friends, I didn't grow up we're I live. And I'm not real sure how to establish new ones... Any advice or things that have helped others. I'm a social butterfly and I hate being stuck at the house with just my thoughts to keep me company

Hiya :) I relied on my partner a lot when my anxiety first got me, just gunna give you some tips to what you can try to make friends!
What are you interested in? Find a course with that and join it?
Do you have kiddies? Go to a mothers group?
If your partner has friends meet with some of them?
Just go out there, join some classes and enjoy yourself :)

When meeting new people, using breathing techniques while doing so can help calm you, especially since you can use a number of different breathing techniques without it being obvious to others. Simple breathing exercises can be done without it being noticeable to others.

So I shouldn't bend over and putt my head in between my legs and take deep breaths lol... To bad , that one works for me but would be awkward

Im the same way. When my husband leaves for a long time my anxiety is at its worst. I usually ask one of my kids to sleep with me so I don't sleep alone.

I been thru the same as you. I moved to Chicago from Mississippi 3 years ago and for 1 whole year I didn't have friends or no one to talk to other than the people I was living with. After that year I was able to find a job and meet friends there from Co workers to customers.

That's another thing , I'm not working. But I just got my Cna license so I'll be headed out to get a job very soon. So I hope that helps

I am the same. When my husband is gone it's really bad, I feel like I can't do anything without him and I am scared. I have 3 children and 2 are in school. When my husband isn't here I have my 6 year old sleep with me so I'm not alone. Being alone is a big deal to me right now.

Having a job and getting out of the house is gonna be key. Having too much time alone can let your imagination run away with you. Your mind just needs to be stretched, worked out, like a muscle. Getting a job will keep you sharp and get your thoughts on to other things. I always figure that if there is really enough of a problem with your health or mind, your body will tell you.

Congrats on the Cna license!

Slightly off-topic to this thread, but I'm noticing more and more girls/women posting on this forum who are at home with children and suffering high anxiety.

I.e. home alone with kiddy-winkles seems to be a perfect place for the anxiety monster!

Perhaps you female folk need to be getting out and about more? more socialising... or have people visiting if you can?

dazza, I think you've got something there. I nanny'd full-time for years (different than parenting, yes yes I know), but you crave the adult attention/conversation and when you don't get it, the situation is ripe for anxiety. I'm in Chicago and there's a mom downtown who opened a coffee shop to solve this very problem. Little Beans or something I think. It's got a built-in indoor playground and a separate cafe for the moms. Someone should franchise that asap.

It's a certified nursing assistant. I work under a nurse to preform medical tasks... Wich is why it's even more important for me to get my panic under control .... And dazza yes your right, I'm very aware that my life at home with the kiddies can trigger my anxiety and panic :/

Dazza, I think you are absolutely right. I work from home and I'm with my kiddos all day, every day...and don't spend any time hanging out with girlfriends......my anxiety triggered after I had my kids.....hmmmmmm.....seriously, maybe that has something to do with it.....

I feel anxious and alone at night :( can't sleep

It is worse for me at night too. I live alone and during the day I work so it helps. Being alone is harder. I get anxious and over worry Bout too many things. Including myn body or my stomach. So if you can keep busy or have friends this can help. That's what I am trying to do.
