Was recently prescribed lorazepam .5 mg for anxiety and have been afraid to try it as I'm sensitive to medications, anyone tried this benzodiazepine and how did it make you feel this is the lowest dose made?

I have been on ativan 10 years. Take it when I need it. I am like you, scared of any pill and always take a lower dose to start. I think .5 is a good start dose. Especially at bedtime. It will make u warm and sleepy with no hangover. It's one I prefer. Good luck.

Took it for three years and it was very effective with little issues. Try slpitting 1/2 a tab in half91/4 tab) and see how it goes. It bet you won't have any issues with that. Alankay

I had some ativan laying around from years ago when my anxiety really flared up. I was afraid to take it, but was so happy when I did.

It made the first few months of my anxiety survivable, and now I need it maybe once a month.

In my experience, .5mg will murder a panic attack in 15-20 minutes. I would be pacing around panicky as all hell, and would feel the exact moment it kicked in- a wave of calm throughout my body that would almost bring tears to my eyes. I would feel normal within minutes and be able to function. Only side effect was slight sleepiness, which is good if you are trying to go to sleep. But it wasn't bad at all, I could still work, may just yawn a few times.

In the 2 months where I took .5mg just about daily, I think there were two occasions where I needed to take another .5mg within an hour or two of the first one. It lasted long and had me feeling great.

I got off it with no problems whatsoever. Just keep the dose low, take it only as needed, and try not to take it for a long time. 3 months and I was totally fine.

When you have a panic attack, take it. Trust me. It is the greatest thing ever for someone suffering from anxiety.

Personally I think .5mg is a small enough dose that you can just do that.

Literally I will be having a panic attack, take .5mg, and feel totally normal, if not a bit sleepy and relaxed. I don't feel intoxicated or off. Just normal and calm.

If you are really nervous then just try .25mg first, just to show yourself that it's nothing crazy.

Don't be nervous- Ativan, when used sparingly as needed, can be a HUGE help. I don't know how I would have made it without it. The most important thing for me was knowing I had it- I wouldn't get anxious thinking I was going to have a huge bad panic attack because I knew I could just take an ativan if that happened.

well the doctor gave me the white ones that you swallow, not the green ones you put under your tongue! Is there a difference? I know the sublingual acts quicker but is it basically the same??

1/4 tab if you're that concerned about taking it. But 1/2 tab should OK. Alankay

I actually had no idea there was a difference- I also have the white ones and was under the impression you could put those under your tongue...

Even in my worst panic moments I just swallowed it like normal and felt great in 20 minutes tops.
