My doctor won't script me Benzos because I fainted three times (two during flight, once during blood draw) from xanax and I get bad hangovers from Ativan. We tried BuSpar and it didn't work at all for me.
I'm on 20 Mg of Celexa per day and my anxiety seems pretty controlled, but I'm worried about school coming back up. I take Tylenol + Codeine for serve headache pain that aren't migraines. I take Imitrex for migraines. T2 (tylenol + codeine) does wonders for anxiety, but I'm worried about taking opiates when feeling anxious.
I read that Tramadol (a very weak opiate) can have anxiety relieving effects, should I ask for a script for that from my doctor? I also read that beacuse it has serotontin qualities, it can be dangerous to take with SSRIs.
I'm really worried about panic attacks and I can't take benzos or BuSpar. Is Tramadol my best bet, or is there something else I can try?

I thought Tramadol was a pain killer ?
I know my mum has to take it for her arthritis .
It's very addictive & also has a lot of side effects , personally I wouldn't start on this drug for anxiety

There are a lot of anti depressants that help anxiety , 😃

Tramadol has been in clinic studies as an SSRI. I'm taking celexa for an SSRI. I need something for panic attacks.
All opiates and benzos have potential for abuse, tramadol is less so because no studies have shown it to be in need of placement on the controlled subtances list.
Mirtazapine is another opition.

Yanni, you can ask about atarax(an old antihistamine with anti anxiety qualities). There is also an old drug called Miltown(Meprobamate) which is still available in the US. It's not a benzo. Another med called lyrica(Pregabalin) is also sometimes used for anxiety but must be taken daily. There are some others doc know about.
I think in rare cases a super low dose antipsychotic can be tried for folks who really are suffering with uncontrolled anxiety who cannot take benzos but a pdoc should be advised on much of this as this is their specialty.
You doc doesn't want you fainting while driving, etc. Alankay.
