Had my first psychologist appointment today with the Doctor I have been waiting MONTHS to get into. She's a specialist in Eating Disorders and Panic/Anxiety and I think it went really well.

It just made me feel better to have someone listen to the things I have endured and understand that this isn't just something I have brought upon myself. The circumstances leading to anxiety and panic are real and legitimate.

I got asked a lot of routine questions that I have had to answer before for my psychiatrist and when I was in-patient in wards. I'll be seeing ER fortnightly for the next few months or so.

The thing that resonated the most was when she asked what I wanted from the treatment. My goals are ideally to be panic and anxiety free, but more realistically, they are to be able to manage the symptoms and the panic attacks if and when they occur.

The experience wasn't cheap ($60 AUD after subsidies), but it was well worth it. I would recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to start learning some strategies to handle myself better in stressful situations. I feel like I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I couldn't have got over the worst part of A/D without therapy. We absolutely need this reassurance.

I'm glad to hear that you've taken this step and that it's already helping (high five!)

Amazing how talking can help.

Errrmmm... you think $60 isn't cheap!

A psychologist here in Cambridge, UK averages £300 an hour! (that's $459 AUD)

A cognetive therapist averages £100 an hour ($153 AUD)

Think yourself lucky! lol
