i need help

I have been struggeling with anxiety for more than a year now, i tried a alot of antidepressants and nothing seems to help. I have an appointment with my d this week. Can anybody give me any suggestions because i need something that helps with anxiety and can be used long term safely.
I tried:
Zoloft
Prozac
Effexor xr
Wellbutrin sr
Lexapro

I occaisonlly tajke xanax but doesnt seem to help much.and also cant take it for long.

Are you seeing a therapist/psych as well? Meds alone will not help cure anxiety. I have been on citalopram (an SSRI) for a long time and find that combined with beta-blockers really helps. Taking them along with seeing a psycho-therapist and leading a healthier lifestyle has got me back on track.

Hi Buttercup is right , medication does not cure anxiety & depression . It helps to some degree "if" / "when" you find the right med's , however it doesn't cure it .

I found accepting this fact difficult for a long time & went from one med to another , tried lots of different AD's & went through lot's of side effects , then withdrawal effects . I found myself feeling more hopeless & more depressed the more I tried med's & the more they failed to cure me :(

I hit rock bottom , and I came off all med's , spoke to a cbt therapist , educated myself on depression & anxiety , etc

I had one last attempt on a anti depressant that has helped my mother & as we are very much alike I decided to give it a chance & I'm pleased to say its the best one for me & after riding out the initial side effects I feel a lot more balanced , I sleep much better & I feel like "me" again

I also have lorazapam for my anxiety , I can take up to 4mg per day if needed , I don't usually have to take this amount . It is a life saver for anxiety sufferers , it won't cure the anxiety but it will help with extream anxiety symptoms & panic attacks .

There are a lot of different types of anti depressants , and everyone is different in what helps them .

All I can say is ssri's did not work for me , I take different type altogether , brand name Dosulepin.
