I suffer from GAD and am going away next week and was having a really hard time with my anxiety getting shakes headaches diarrhea sickness etc etc. I went to the docs and he prescribed me with propranolol and diazepam. I took the propranolol this morning (40mg) and i felt fine at first but then i started to feel awful my head feels so heavy and is spinning like mad. How long will it be before this piercing headache wears off? Don't plan on taking anymore propranolol now but do you think ill be just as bad with the diazepam? Really skeptical about taking it now after the experience I've had with propranolol today but need a solution for my holiday next week!! Let me know your experiences with both of these tablets please guys. Any advice is welcome!!

Propranolol will help with the effects of adrenaline on your body. Rapid heart beat, shaking, tremor, etc.
Valium will help with the pyschic fear. That "dread", "doom" feeling that can keep growing into high anxiety/panic. I've never had much in the way of real side effects from them unless I took too much valium(diazepam) and get a bit drowsy. Get to know how effects you and take the minimum needed.
Valium woud be more for GAD and propranolol for social anxiety/stage fright type body shakes/racing heart. Alankay.

I take 80mg slow release propranolol once a day and am lucky that I had no negative side effects. It could just be that your body may take awhile to get used to them. The tabs have worked wonders in regards to the racing heart, shakes and sweating that comes with panic attacks. I have also tried diazepam (5mg up to 15mg) to help with sleeping but it has little effect on me. Everyone is different though and reacts differently to meds. Give the diazepam a go and see how you get on. If you find the meds you have aren't agreeing with you then your GP can prescribe different ones.
