Been on lexapro for awhile- a week at 5mg, 4 weeks at 10mg, and 2 weeks on 15mg.

Love it, totally taken the edge off my anxiety and made things much more balanced. Haven't really had to deal with any side effects except for slightly increased anxiety and sleep problems when I started and each time I increased the dose, for a day or two.

But now I have started noticing I am incredibly itchy. This isn't something that has happened in the past to me. Sometimes it is a random part, other times I can feel a small bump. The tops of my ears, hands, feet head are especially bad. I have been bathing a lot for weeks (nightly baths) so maybe my skin is a bit dry.

It is usually only bad in the morning. At this point, the benefits FAR outweigh the slight itchiness so I would like to stay on it. I'm waiting for my psychiatrist to call me back. Google has showed me this seems to be a somewhat common side effect.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this, and if it indicates some more serious problem like an allergy or something. I have no rash, just the occasional bump, almost like a mosquito bite.

Help me Alankay, you are my only hope!

Talked to my psychiatrist today. Told me to take some benadryl and keep an eye on it. A bit freaked out because I did some research and some people do get this from Lexapro, and it often gets MUCH worse than it is right now. Still hoping to stay the course.

It's worst in the morning, and right now is focused on my hands, feet, and ears. I do have these red dry patches on my underarms, but that is something that has happened in the past (heat maybe?) and they don't itch. The only visible thing besides those is the occasional hive on my hands, and the skin between one of my knuckles is a bit swollen and itchy, but not red.

I am just recently running into this myself. I've been on leakproof before but not with this effect. I sprayed Benadryl ob to stop itching, buti don't want to start over on meds either. I am on 20.
