You'll find that majority of anxiety sufferers get this and they all hate it! relaxation exercises and slow steady breathing can help lower the heart rate. I tried various techniques though and just couldn't manage it so started taking beta blockers a couple of months ago and haven't had a fast heartbeat due to anxiety since. I found it so hard to control before I went on the meds and the more I thought about trying to lower my heart rate the worse it got. I also tried just accepting it and telling myself there was nothing to worry about but when your heart rate is going so fast and you are having a panic attack this is really hard to do.
I'm sure lots of other folk here will have some suggestions for you x

I actually went through years of having tests and warfarine before this past week having been diagnosed with anxiety. Which is nice, as I thought I was losing my mind.
So yes, this heart thing feels very real and is very scary.

Hi Fisher,
whilst I can't help with the pregnancy thing, being the wrong gender!, I can say that the hospital staff are great and i'm sure you will get lots of help and support.
Been there three times, have 3 teenage daughters to prove it!
Best Regards,

Hi, yes I get the same the heart just beats harder or it feels like it's jumping, not a very nice feeling this can make my anxiety worse and bring on the dizzy spells. I am so happy I found this plays as I do not know any one how suffer from anxiety as I do, it's very hard to explained to some one how you feel as most people I know just think I am over sensitive and this makes it a bit harder to lower the anxiety, is there any one how have Paine in the shoulders end neck feeling dizzy? This happens to me almost every day and no matter what I do it just do not wish to go away I have hade anxiety for many years now some months better then others. Cheers hope to hear from some one:)

Hiya,i dont get the dizzy spells but mine is focused on the heart which gives me anxiety, but like all of us anxiety sufferers we zoom into symptoms and some people may get more dizzy spells or neck pain, you get every symptom with anxiety, when it comes on you try and think positive and say to yourself i have had this before and i havnt collapsed or fainted and i survived it before so its just anxiety and it will pass.
