Hi all! I have recently started having anxiety and racing thoughts of doom and gloom. I saw my GP and he put me on Paxil at 10mg to start. However, the side effects are bad! Severe gut churning, loss of appetite, and it seems my anxiety is higher.

I've taken it for 3 days so far, but am seriously thinking of stopping. I'be read that Celebs is a better drug and not as severe side effects. Any suggestions?

Celexa is in the same class but has a longer half life than paxil. I'd stay on paxil a bit longer as I think the sides effects at that dose will soon fade. It is good for anxiety. But for some another ssri should be tried. Go to celexa or zoloft if that one reeaaaaally disagrees with you. Alankay

Paxil has really helped me I'm currently on it! I started 10mg first week and then increased to 20mg....I experienced nausea at first and yawning but the side effects wear off....give it 2 weeks it will get better!! Just ride it out you'll be ok :)

Paxil was great while on it but really aweful to get off. I swapped to celapram and have no issues
