I have severe anxiety attacks, I have tried several different meds but none help. I feel so helpless. The only thing that works for me is klonopin. Any advice on how to help the attacks stop or slow down.

Try also getting to the root of your anxiety via counseling as well as the benzo. An ssri could be added at a slow dose and tapered upward. PM me any time. Alankay

I would also highly recommend an SSRI, unless those fall into the category of things you have tried but don't work.

SSRI's/antidepressants are tricky. It's not like most other pills where the results are immediate. It can take weeks to feel the effects, even up to 6 weeks. But they can be extremely helpful.

I'm a big advocate of the benzo/SSRI combo. Take a klonopin, ativan or xanax when things get rough. Even daily if needed, but keep the dose low. This can tide you over until the SSRI kicks in. Ideally, you will reach a point where you will rarely need to take the benzo. I was taking ativan daily (.5mg), but now it's 1-2 times per week. Combine this with weekly counseling.
