Hi everyone

Im Dan. 27 year old male from north east of england. I suffer from GAD and i have been on citalopram for 1.5 years. Starting on 20mg then upping to 40mg. I have my good days and bad days but lately i have been feeling really anxious with that "feeling of impending doom". I am worried in case i am going back to my old ways. Being anxious all the time. Im not going through anything particularly stressful so i dont understand what could be triggering it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know what you're going through. I have been on citalopram (celexa) for 3 1/2 years. I started out at 20mg but when I went up to 25mg it spiraled and got worse. A big side effect I have from this medicine is that I get really dizzy. I HATE it!!!! do you get dizzy from it too? Anyway - i went down to 15mg and felt a bit better. After about a year of that I went down to 10mg. I don't know what to do cuz i'm having BAD anxiety lately too. I missed a couple of doses and my doctor said to take it regularly and do not miss a dose cuz that can effect it too. So i dont know if you've missed a dose or what? But i'm starting to think my body is just used to it and I need to get off of it? I dont know what to do either :( Sorry I wasn't much help but I can definatly relate. Any ideas let me know too!!!!

I was put on citalopram 11 years ago and am still on (40mg at the moment). I first went on it when I was very depressed and also anxious. I feel that it really helps with depression but not so much with feelings of panic. I find that therapy is better for anxiety. I've talked to my doc about changing meds due to my anxiety but he said to stick to the citalopram and also take beta blockers as they take the edge of the panic attacks by slowing and regulating your heart rate- so now i still get panic attacks but my heart rate doesn't increase! I really do wish there was a magic pill for anxiety. Citalopram does make me a bit dizzy and tired but then that could also be the anxiety. i have also suffered from night sweats since starting citalopram and freaky vivid dreams since starting the beta blockers.

That a good med. Any changes in life or for anyone close to you? Sometimes changes or changes for Mom, Dad, GF's, Siblings can up anxiety. Might be time to try another ssri like paxil, fluoextine, etc. Some add a benzo for short term use(tough days or periods). Alankay.
