Hi everyone -

I am a severe anxiety sufferer and have been on Paxil for the past 12 years. Just recently increased from the CR 25mg to the 37.5 mg but I'm not sure it's helping. I almost think it's causing anxiety.

I'm basically sick of being anxious everyday - just like all of you. I want to not worry about every twinge of pain I feel and then have to spend hours on the internet trying to find out what I might be sick with. I'm tired of worrying about having a panic attack and I'm tired of having that tight feeling in my chest.

I've been looking into self-help programs but am just not sure whether they are scams or not. I thought joining a forum and interacting with others suffering the same things I do might help.

I'm glad I found the forum - thanks!

Drugs cause the anxiety to increase. In my case anyway. The chronic anxiety will leave you if you go to your doctor and get help weening of the meds. Highly reccomend meditation methods. Meridian therapy. And a balanced diet. Those drugs are chasing a fly with a bazooka in your brain. Blam blam very powerful stuff but u have to go c ur dr to ween off them slowly otherwise youll get worse. Exercise helps relieve the stress too! The process may seem like it takes forever but soon implementing these methods while u and ur dr figure out how to ween off those mess you will c success.

I am also new to this forum. I have had panic attacks since I was 12, but they were very sparse up until about a year ago. Since then I have developed agoraphobia. Have you tried therapy or other medications?

I was initially put on Zoloft (2 years) and Xanax as needed. I was put on the Paxil CR because the Zoloft wasn't working. Paxil has been fine for several years but lately, I think the anxiety is rearing it's ugly head!

I have been taking my daughter (15) to a therapist recently for anxiety and possibly ADHD or Bipolarism. She is being assessed by a GREAT therapist.

I have considered doing some with her to see what I might gain from it. It's worth a shot!
