Hi guys,
Found this forum and it looks great! I'm looking forward to meeting people in the same boat as me, sharing experiences and hopefully learning new coping strategies.
I'm 32 years old and have suffered from varying degrees of anxiety, depression and agorophobia for the past 12 years. I'm currently going through a bad patch and am off work due to my anxiety and agorophobia. I am on 40mgs of Citalopram (a drug i have been on since I was 20 although dosage has varied over the years) and for the past 4 weeks have been taking a beta blocker called propranonol (80mg slow release daily) to help control my palpitations and racing heart. I've seen various psychologists and community psychiatric nurses over the years but am currently seeing a psychotherapist and we are working on transactional analysis.
I'm feeling very lost at the moment and seem unable to get over this period of anxiety. Despite having a great support network- amazing family, friends and partner I am pretty much housebound due the overwhelming feelings of panic and fear I experience when leaving my home.
Anyway, I am glad to have come across this forum and can see that I am not alone which is somewhat comforting.
