Coming off Xanax

I started taking Celexa about 3 weeks ago but during that time I was talking up to 2mg of xanax daily for the 1st week, 1.5mg the second and Im starting to take 1mg now (half at noon half at 7pm)
This use of the Xs has been to prevent the "negative side effects" the Celexa is supposed to give me during the first weeks.
Im thinking of cutting off the Xanax next week (4 weeks into the Celexa treatment) because I feel good but would like to test out the Celexa by itself to see if its working already.

If you're feeling good, I bet it would be OK. 1 mg is not huge if you haven't been at that dose long. If you feel crappy resume it and the taper off as before. You may need to go to a longer acting benzo to taper off if you have issues but I bet you'll be OK as you have been so far. Good call adding the celexa. Alankay.

Thanks Alankay. Someone suggested I try clonazepam .5mg for a week after cutting off the Xanax or Lorazepam 1mg (never heard of this one) but Im not very fond of mixing in more medication.
Would you suggest the Clonazepam or Lorazepam over the Xanax if the bad side effects resume?

Klonopin if you have more of a Generalized type anxiety, ativan(lorazepam) if you get more panicky. Alankay
