I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and I've just been seeing my regular doctor for treatment.

She initially had me taking Citalopram every day, and it made me horribly sick on a regular basis. I had to start taking Zofran a couple times a day. I stuck with Citalopram for a while, but ended up asking to try something different. She switched me to Sertraline nearly a month ago. I've only been taking 1/2 tablet (of the 50 mg) because that even makes me a little nauseous. She wants me to be able to move up to a full tablet.

It seems that it's not really working - maybe because I'm taking such a small dose. She put me on Xanax temporarily until the Sertraline starts working more. I also started on Temazepam for the insomnia caused by the Sertraline. She doesn't want me to try something else again until I've been taking a full tablet for at least a month.

I just wonder if I should continue with my current regimen, and try to work up to a full tablet, or if seeing an actual psychiatrist would be more beneficial.

Yep. Work with the zoloft until you body has a chance get used top it. That's a what a pdoc would do anyway. For GAD though I would ask about a longer acting benzo like valium, clorazepate or klonopin but xanax will also work but just has a shorter half life.
It also took me a few weeks to get used to my ssri but things did get much better in time. PM me any time. Alankay

See a pdoc. They specialize in helping people with issues like you (and me).
