I was just at the doctor's this past wednesday and explained my anxiety/panic attacks. He prescribed me .25mg of xanax (the generic alpro...something) and said only to take it when needed. Although I'm not experiencing any anxiety at the moment, I wanted to try it just to see how it affects me so that when the time comes when I REALLY need it, I'll know what to expect. I'm just a bit nervous taking it, because of course, I had to google the side effects. Although I'm sure a little bit of drowsiness is expected, I'm more worried about feeling "out of it" or having the unlikely bad reactions. I've smoked weed before and don't like that feeling, so I don't know if I'll like this? Just wondering everyone else's advice is. I'm like pysching myself out, debating whether to take it or not. UGH, why can't I just be "normal"? LOL. Thanks!

If you have never taken a benzo before you will feel it wash over you. Don't take extra and don't drink. Trust and be honest with your doc.

Alprazolam is a great med for anxiety but some like me prefer longer acting meds(valium, klonopin). I'd take 1/2 tablet and see how you feel. I bet you'll be surprised that you'll feel fine. At that dose you will likely feel just less anxious and not so much drowsy. It's a safe med for occasional use in anxious situations. Use the minimum only when you need it. PM me any time. Alankay
